BD Microtainer® Tubes BD Microtainer® tubes are used to collect, transport and store skin puncture specimens for haematology tests, or for tests utilizing serum or heparinized plasma. Tubes are applicable to the general population, but are particularly used on infants, small children, geriatrics and critical care patients from whom venous blood specimens are particularly difficult to obtain or whenever only the smallest amounts of blood are required. The special design of the BD MicrogardTM safety closure substantially reduces blood splashing after the tube has been opened.
