Urine Bag

• Positioning: Always keep the bag below bladder level to use gravity for drainage and prevent urine from flowing back into the bladder
• Emptying: Small bags are emptied every 2–4 hours; large night bags are emptied once in the morning or as needed
• Cleaning: Reusable bags should be cleaned daily with a diluted vinegar or bleach solution and rinsed thoroughly. Drying with the tube spout down helps prevent bacterial growth
• Replacement: Leg bags are generally replaced weekly; larger bedside bags may be replaced every five to seven days or according to healthcare provider guidance
