Songs Of Wisdom And Circles Of Dance in Parable

“Songs of Wisdom and Circles of Dance: Hymns of the Satpanth Isma’ili Muslim Saint, Pir Shams” is a book that provides a survey and translation of the ginan tradition of the Satpanth Isma’ilis. The ginans are sacred hymns that have been revered for generations and are traditionally recited during daily ritual prayers. The book offers a historical reconstruction of the origins of Satpanth Isma’ilism and an extensive translation of hymns attributed to Pir Shams, a 13th-century Isma’ili saint and composer. It is considered a valuable resource for scholars and students studying Islam, Isma’ili traditions, and the role of Pir Shams in religious history. The book is part of the McGill Studies in the History of Religions and was published by State University of New York Press.
