Display.
OPPO A55 features a 6.1-inch 2.5D curved NEG T2X-1 protected LCD (A-Si) screen – slightly bigger than the 6.43″ of the A95 and smaller to that of OPPO A16K 3GB 32GB. It has a 120Hz touch sampling rate, HD+ 1600 x 720 resolution at 270 ppi. OPPO A55 has a system-wide dark mode as well as an eye comfort feature. Users can also opt to adjust the screen color temperature to cool, default, and warm. Overlay this is a Vibrant display.
Camera.
The rear panel features a 50 MP main camera that allows you to capture some remarkable photos. Not only is the main camera wonderful, but I’ll also say that the camera is a major player. The depth sensor is not that important and that 2MP macro camera can’t take decent pictures anyway as expected. The 16 MP camera on the screen is good enough with decent photos and videos.
Performance and Software.
For the software side of things, the OPPO A55 is running on ColorOS 11 version 11.1, and I think that ColorOS in general is pretty okay. The software is quite clean and there is no bloatware.
OPPO A55 is respectable to use. There are noticeable hiccups when left with multiple apps running in the background. Of course, this is to be expected on a mid-range smartphone so it may not run smoothly if you’re a heavy user. It may not be designed for gaming, but some mobile games like Call of Duty run smoothly at default or low settings. If you want superb Performance at all-round you should consider the Reno series – Reno 6 5G and Reno 7 5G.
Battery.
One of the selling points of the OPPO A55 is its battery. A 5,000mAh capacity of battery, similar to that of Oppo A97, OPPO A57 4G and Oppo A57 5G, juices up the handset and has an 18W charging support. Under moderate usage, the OPPO A55 is able to last up to a day and it can extend up to a day and a half for light users. Charging takes less than an hour using the fast charger brick included in the box.
